the Admiral strode through the doors his attendant Flag-Lieutenant and guards at his side and headed for the command pulpit, there he addressed the captain. "I am to be leaving your fort shortly captain, the fleet is ready and your "group" is ready for the jump to the new colonies, i shall be returning shortly to my ship where i shall take command and we shall set off to reinforce the postliminium System to prevent anyone decimating it while the fleet is small" slowly the pulpit revolved to reveal an over-plump Drucii, his eyes, as with most of the rest of him, were connected into various cables and devices, responded in a metallic gravelly monotone voice, "very well, sire, your timing seems impeccable, extreme range sensors report an enemy fleet entering some form of hyper-spatial bubble and seem to want to engage our fleets."
a smirk appeared on the equiline face of the admiral and he quickly responded, "excelent, i was wondering when the boredom would end, i fear we have not seen enough action recently, no pirates anymore, nearest empires destroyed. But now we have a new foe, so it seems to test our mettle agianst. send the oredr to enter the warp in 30 minutes, bon voyage" with that the admiral quickly turned on his heal and was teleported to his ship, the Retribution Battleship Sword of truth

Shortly afterward a fleet of a further SSF left for the new postliminium System, an 8 hour trip

To the SE:
Your actions are clearly designed as an attempt to weaken our power and undermine our defensive strength. In light of your incredibly clear plans for a first strike, we have no choice but to forcibly remove your ships from within striking distance of our worlds. A mere 2.6 light years would not be nearly enough to protect our citizenry from your tyranical heel.

It has long been the policy of the EVO to bring solution to threats before they can rise against us. And you should expect no different treatment. Should your military vessels and civilian colonists fail to comply with EVO orders, we will not be held responsible for protecting ourselves.

Admiral Batte looked over the transmission he had received when passing by a frontline planet. Now, it would only be another forty-five minutes until his fleet re-entered realspace. He saw a notice from the Industrialists that an allaince might be preferable to further war. Apparantly they felt this Sigismund Empire might have the industrial capacity to overwhelm the EVO defensive lines. Impossible. Some planets have been being fortified for generations. But nonetheless, he would offer the damned aliens a chance to surrender before his shells began exploding.

The fleet appeared in the claimed system, having circled around to strike the far side. As per the admiral's orders, the ships activated their sheilds and FTLi generators. After preliminary scans of the defenders, each ship launched a full broadside of smart missiles and torpedos. As destroyers and cruisers accelerated to attack velocities, battes gave teh final chance to surrender.

your "defence" would be considered an attack and would be repelled, we would seek compensation for the ammunition wasted destroying your craft.

we neither wish war with your nation nor to surrender, we suggest your ships are withdrawn from rightfully Drucii claimed space to avert a pointless conflict, if you wish you may set up a permanent FTLi and a border to prevent any incursions into your territory, but we have no wish for inhabited systems.

as a rule of thumb my ships are about:

OOC: Wow, your stuff is big. My battlecruiser would be about your light cruiser. The cruisers equal your frigates, and our destroyers would be about the same. But size doesn't matter when you've got overpowered armor, sheilds, and weapons like mine.

It is you who have brought a warfleet into such close proximity to our systems. If peace is all you desire, then the Drucii should not act so inclined toward conflict. We are happy to include peaceful, unarmed states into our protective sphere, but if you present us with a spacefleet capable of striking our population centers, and so wantonly place it withing striking distance, it is our moral duty to protect our citizenry by ending such a threat. 

You have nothing to fear from us if you give us no cause to fear you. Surrender your war vessels now and we will allow your colonies to exist in peace. 

Battes gave a new signal to his fleet, and its was soon obeyed. All FTLi systems were turned off, and in a few seconds, as they'd only been on for a short time, it was again safe to use FTL drives to enter warpspace. Three cruisers and four destroyers then activated their drives and disappeared, while the rest of the fleet remained in their current formation. Those ships would strike from the warp, dropping deadly ordinance onto the hesitant enemy before reentering realspace behind them, trapping them between two attacking forces.

The main force, meanwhile, continued to fire smart missiles, hoping that the enemy would surrender before they began to detonate.

we would not send unprotected ships filled with colonist into unexplored and potentially dangerous space.

we will withdraw battlefleets when imobile system defence craft have been deployed, this should be complete within 4 lunar cycles of the largest moon orbiting TPD/III (co-ords dispatched).

untill then we will remove approximatly half the fleets currently stationed in this Sector

with that large portions of the assembled Drucii fleets entered the warp heading for port maw in preparation for conflict in annother part of the universe

That is satisfactory. Our offensive operations against you wil cease. However, three cruisers and their escorts will remain in-system as a safeguard.

True to their word, if not their heritage, the Etrians onboard the various warships prematurely detonated their ordinance. Then the escorts formed up with their motherships and they all silently, almost ashamedly slipped away into hyperspace, taking the direct route back to home space.
