I'm comprising a breakdown of my military units. I want to list all of my various units, give them names, and how many troops in each. Eventually I want to give them a history, bhut I'd also like a bunch of unit flags to tell them apart. Whar can we meet hafwai?

The symbols one uses for units are a little more broad in interpretation and execution. You have three basic options - flags, standards, and badges/symbols. Flags follow all the standard vexillogical forms and are essentially always formal. Standards are like flags but operate on an up-down axis rather than left-right. Badges are a bit different from both; they are usually more complicated, a variety of shapes, and formal or informal. Here are some examples:

An air force badge:

A stylized air national guard badge:

Another slightly more informal ANG badge from good old Madison WI:

Badges work better for units because they're typically "allowed" to contain more information than, say, a standard or flag would. They would also take longer to make per badge, though.

I was thinking standards. I'm old fashioned, my troops carry unit standards into battle. Like the French.

Ahh, they only stole that from the Romans. :P

Okay. I recommend that you send me some mockups done up however you like - in paint, hand-drawn and scanned, whatever. The process is greatly accelerated if you do that and far closer to the ideal visions (however fuzzy) that might be bouncing around your head right now.

'kay. I'm still compiling my units and doing the necessary long division to make sure my armed forces dont have like lol 300million soldiers, 4 medics, 1 tank and a man with a funny hat. I just wanted to see if you'd do that many standards for me. I'm only going to do it for "units of legendary valor", so it'll be like..40 flags if I dont run out of design ideas.
