After over a thousand years of ship-based technological stagnation, the Technology Directorate decided enough was enough. Obtaining funds collected over five hundred years of pacifism and peace, the greatest engineers and scientists in The Empire began to draw up plans for the next-generation Mindsettian Navy. After fifteen long years, all plans were finally complete. None were more complex, or large and expensive as the Mindsettian Heavy Battleship class.

With over seventy trillion moving parts, the ship is the most complex piece of engineering ever attempted within The Empire. The statistics are posted below, for your viewing, and accusations of godmodding pleasure. :P

Fighter Complement:
- Includes an enourmous fighter factory inside the lower section of the hull.
- Asteroids are pulled inside one of the three enourmous cargo bays, and strip mined, to produce new fighters.
- At its peak, it can manufacture 200 new fighters per hour, taking approximately 30 hours to max out the fighter complement.
- After battle, the fighters are dismantled and stored as component parts.

Additional Notes:
- Hull is strengthened by Mindsettian molecular binding generators located near the rear of the ship. *
- Though the ship is equipped with inertial dampeners to help it move, the ship is not designed to make major changes in direction under stl drive. To change direction, the ship makes a small wormhole jump, with the event horizon at the other end facing the direction it wishes to travel.
- Hull is coated in a thin layer of "exotic matter", which has negative mass. This causes a weak inverted gravity field, which "pushes" (in reality, it makes them fall away from the hull) dust etc. away from impacting the hull. This allows the ship to enter atmospheres, and dust clouds. It was constructed in the upper atmosphere of a gas supergiant, and requires a visit back every fifty years to refuel.

* The molecular binder generator works though a concept known as "Quantum Entanglement". This is a quantum mechanical phenomenon in which the quantum states of two or more objects have to be described with reference to each other, even though the individual objects may be spatially separated. This leads to correlations between observable physical properties of the systems that are stronger than any classical correlations. As a result, measurements performed on one system may be interpreted as "influencing" other systems entangled with it.


The generator holds a mass of solid hydrogen atoms in a looped voidhole (a wormhole that loops back on itself, and so can be used to store objects of infinite size in tiny spaces) equal to the mass of the hull. The generator gives each hydrogen atom either a negative or a positive charge, which is then translated onto the hull via Quantum Entanglement. When the entangled atoms of the hull are arranged correctly, positively to negatively charged, the bonds between them strengthen hence the overall thickness of the material required is reduced.

Very nice and well explained Mindset. I also like the pic a great deal as well. As for it's size, it seems that ships are getting bigger anyway, so I can't say anything bad about that.

I would increase the height a little, 1km seems a big flat.

Well, the 1km height is a design "feature." Because it is such a large target, turning its side to face the enemy gives them a much smaller area to hit.

Well, the 1km height is a design "feature." Because it is such a large target, turning its side to face the enemy gives them a much smaller area to hit.
Okay that sounds reasonable. Is it mainly a "broadside ship" combat wise then?

Yes, most weapons are mounted on the two side "grooves" that you can see in the image.
