Ships That Compose the Torontonian Fleet

After a long time of thinking and designing, I have finally decided to release the stats and pictures of the ships in the Torontonian Spacial Defence Commission and in the Torontonias Space Program. Comments and Criticism is appreciated as this is the first time I have actually put stats on my Ships.

Just some definitions: Multi-Directional Laser Turrets simply mean they have the abilty to turn 360 Degrees, as well as a 180 Degree Arc when firing upwards, so it can go from one side to the other, where as the Fixed position lasers cannot move around, and only have a 90 Degree Arc.

General Staff are the majority of the Crew and they vary from Chefs, General Crew, Low ranking officers and such. Colapsable Armour is Moderately strong armour that absorbs damage until in buckles, and then detatches itself from the ship, effectively giving the ship mutiple skins, it makes up for our lack of Sheilds.

Point Defence Anti Missle System is a network in which for every Battery and Turret, there is about three of these units, small, high powered, super accurate lasers capable of shooting out missles on a collsion course with the ship, has a fifteen second recharge rate.

Anti-Boarding Units are simply Troops on board that are there in the event the ship is boarded, they are more heavily armed then the General Crew.

*Edit (Oct 28th 2004) Ships have been revamped to include better weapons and the new Rail weapons and sweeping laser systems, this is reflecting the destabilization of the Galactic Political Climate. Also, I merged this thread with my System Defences, which were made public to the Galaxy recently by the Torontonian Government.

TDSC Ships

Bandit class assault Frigate
Although the Doctrine of the TSDC has always been hit heavy and hard, there is still a demand for a smaller ship that can outrun and outmauver the larger capital ships. It is a small, agile ship that is used for Surgical strike operations on enemy capital ships in the rare occasion you actually find them is large space battles. It is more commonly found on patrol duty.

Legionnere Class Destroyer
The Legionnere is the TSDC backbone and workhorse; they <a href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp ... =make%20up" onmouseover="window.status='make up'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">make up</a> the majority of the fleet, and are suited to a variety of tasks. They are powerful enough to stand alone on patrol duty, and work well when grouped together. They also complement the Centurion Heavy Destroyer, so one would often see the two classes together. With Forward facing batteries in the front and back, as well as along the fins, with the added power of a Plasma Cannon mounted on one side adds to the all around power of the Ship.

Centurion Class
Commonly called “The Barb� or “The Burr� because of its many one directional laser batteries along the sides of the hull, with Multi-Directional Turrets along the top and bottom, in the TDSC, it is the heavy backup to the lighter Legionnere class, although slower, it is more heavily armed and has planet bombarding capabilities.

Samnite Class

The Samnite is the most powerful ship in the Fleet, it was designed to engage the Uberships of other Space Powers, and heavy Planetary Bombardment, it is also one of the only ships over a Kilometre long. It is also the only ship that has Fighter Launching Capabilities.

Mobile Spatial Artillery Platform
The Newest addition to the TDSC Fleet, it is a poorly armed, large, flat, mobile platform mounting four massive Supercharged Plasma Cannons, its sole purpose it to sit at the back of a conflict and lob Plasma bolts into the Fray of battle. They are much like the Cannons in our Defence Network; just with mobility and a shorter reload time. It is also Very Heavily Defended, due to its lack of weapons

TSP Ships

Explorer Class
The Explorer class Science ship was one of the first ships ever to enter production, over the years it has been redesigned and rehauled, but it’s historic value remains the same, it is used for both Short and Long Range Scientific Missions. It lacks many weapons and instead replaces the space they take up with Scientific Equipment.

Sensor Network
Before this project was even conceived, the Capital system had a comprehensive sensor network that could detect disturbances up to three LY away. A disruption such as weapons fire, FTL emissions, or any number of advanced warnings. This would allow our fleet to ready itself, and the entire defense network to be brought online. Each sensor station is unmanned, about 10 meters long and 8 meters wide, and is fueled by a Cell that is recharged elsewhere. The cell must be replaced every twenty years, or immediately after running at extremely high standards. Ex. Using full power to monitor situation developing 15 LY away.

Defense Satellites
These satellites will orbit the outer rings of the system in clusters of five together. They are armed with Laser batteries. They reason for clustering is that by it, the laser would to minimal damage, but together, with at least three focusing on one target, they are capable of doing serious damage. They are also armed with Anti-fighter missile batteries in the event that the enemy relies on swarming defenses with fighters. The Satellites are powered by large batteries that need to be replaced every five years, or after more than ten hours of continually sustained combat. It is also armed with a 1,000 missile salvo. They orbit the outer ring in clusters, and since there are too few to have a continuous spread of satellites, there are gaps in the defense of about 40 minutes before the next cluster comes around, that the enemy can sneak through. This is where the next item comes in. They are also now Complemented with a Rail Gun Upgrade

Roving Defense Satellites, A.K.A “Sentinels�
These satellites are much like the above model with the exception that they are not confined to a strict orbit, they have thrusters that allow them to move around the system on their own accord, responding to threats wherever needed. These satellites close the gap in the outer system that the orbital create. They are armed with sweeping Laser weapons much like the weapons on the sentinels on HALO, except on a larger scale. They fire for a ten second sweep and then recharge for another twenty. This laser is also capable of handling fighters, so no anti-fighter batteries are needed. In order to facilitate this power drain, each Sentinel is powered by its own Fusion reactor. These are also Upgraded with a Rail Gun Addition

Long range Spatial Flak Cannon
Nestled deep within the inner system, these massive batteries sit silently waiting for one purpose. When an enemy fleet enters within range at the rim of the outer system, they become active and literally lob massive plasma bolts far off into the distance, when reaching a preordained point, the bolt breaks up, spraying liquid plasma onto enemy ships and weapons. A small magnetic field is created around the bolt to slow decay, and it is launched at an extreme speed, as to lessen the time to get to the destination. The drawbacks to this installation almost outweigh the advantages. The recoil created from the firing mechanism almost launches them into nearby stations or planet, and a special thruster system was created just to counteract the recoil. Unfortunately, the system uses up so much fuel, it needs to be resupplied every ten shots. It also has an extremely long refire rate; it takes nearly an hour to reload the turret, as the unfired bolts are so heavy and so large. It also needs a twenty minute cool down period between shots and reloads as to prevent it from overheating. Another is storage, the platform can only store 10 shots before resupplied. Finally, it is indiscriminate, we have to be very careful not to target our own ships or defense satellites or our Allies ships in the firing process. After all of these flaws, it is still used but mainly as an opening fire weapon used to distract and disorient the enemy fleet. There are only five of these stations located in the middle of the system, but all with clear shots to the outer rim (No Planets, Suns, and Asteroids in the way) it is powered by a large Fusion reactor.

Defense Station
This is mainly a large space station with multiple laser batteries and anti-fighter missile batteries that are capable of taking on and holding of a moderately sized fleet on its own. There are only three of these, one for each planet. They are also capable of resuplying an allied fleet during a conflict (That it isn’t involved in) It is also powered by a Fusion Reactor.

Orbital Guns
These weapons are the last defense in space that are found orbiting the three Planets of Epsilon Indi, they are basically Laser batteries with Solar panels to power them. They are used to disorganize and destroy an incoming enemy fleet, judging they made it that far. They are also armed with anti-fighter Missile batteries.

Planetary Guns
These large, three pronged turrets have the last stand of a planet, if an enemy fleet has wiped out all other defenses, and the invasion of a Planet has begun, they have Precision Targeters which allow it to fire explosive shells with pinpoint accuracy. This feature is to destroy landing craft. The other two barrels are for annoying ships orbiting the planet, one is an Ion Cannon, which is used to disable ships, and the other, a laser system used to tear the disabled ship apart. They are also armed with Anti-Fighter missile batteries, in the event of an air raid. It is powered on the planetary grid, and has an independent power supply capable of running for ten hours.

City Defense Domes
Supplied with an ECC Composite supplied by Central Facehuggeria, the final piece of the massive network falls into place. In the form of a retractable dome made from the composite, the citizens of Torontonias are safe. Around all of our major urban centers, which are also the designated evacuation point for smaller communities, is a Dome system that can be erected in about two hours to encapsulate the city. It can withstand major damage, and in the event of an invasion, makes it extremely difficult to take out our infrastructure. The cities have their own power system capable of running for years, and at all times, are stocked with enough supplies to hold out for months at a time. Lights provide an artificial day, as the dome blocks out the sun. Around the dome are also a series of anti-fighter missile batteries used to destroy landing craft, fighters and other missiles. The only drawback is after a few weeks, citizens become weary of the dome, and civil unrest comes soon after.
