Righteous Fist of Heaven Class

Platform Overview:
The Righteous Fist of Heaven class Deep Stand-off Attack Ship is the workhorse of the Ineffable combat fleet. Optimized for extreme-range destruction of hostile starships and planetary pacification missions, the DSA is long on offensive capabilities and short on defensive systems. Sensor systems on the DSA are dedicated almost entirely to battle management support, though they can be used in a pinch as additional extended range surveillance platforms. The DSA is also equipped with Low Observability technology, making them more difficult for hostile forces to target and destroy. DSAs rarely operate independently and rely on battlegroup assets for their self-defense and logistics support. When detached from their primary HCBG, DSAs run in "packs" of two.

Platform Overview:
Designed as a next generation successor to the versatile and venerable Righteous Fist of Heaven platform, the Wrath of Achilles is the newest and most advanced ship class in the Ineffable fleet. Incorporating many hard-learned lessons from the Martian activities and the latest in Ineffable technology, the Wrath of Achilles is the most lethal starship-killer ever built. Designed to operate with a minimum of crew and without fleet support behind enemy lines for extended periods of time, the new DSA forgoes such standard shipboard features as small craft, a Lancer contingent, and research capabilities in favor of missiles, missiles, and more missiles. The Wrath of Achilles is the most heavily armed starship launched by the Ineffable Empire, and her arsenal includes the latest in extreme-range kill vehicles as well as the usual suite of offensive and defensive missiles, AP guns, and PDLs. Additionally, the new DSA's distinctive, knife-like profile gives her a tiny sensor cross-section, making her nearly impossible for foes to detect. And any enemy who does manage to engage her will find that reactive shielding and cold plasma armor make the Wrath of Achilles exceptionally resilient and damage-resistant, while her lack of entry points (access to the ship is through a single, heavily fortified airlock) leaves the ship nearly invulnerable to boarding raids.

Long Range Surveillance Ship (LRS)
Eternal Vigilance Class

Platform Overview:
The Eternal Vigilance class Long Range Surveillance ship provides the eyes and ears for an HCBG and PRG. Equipped with multiple arrays of high-powered active and passive sensor suites, the LRS is ideal for providing early-warning of impending attack, enhancing battlegroup track correlation and improving the efficiency of offensive and defensive operations. Although lightly armed, the LRS is equipped with Low Observability technology, which reduces its vulnerability to attack. Pride of Kaldera Class

Platform Overview:
The Pride of Kaldera class Group Defense Frigate is the first line of defense for the HCBG and the PRG. Designed to track, target and destroy incoming enemy missiles and fighters, the battlegroup relies on the GDF commanders to ensure that the battlespace is clear for maneuver and attack operations. Each vessel is armed with limited offensive capabilities, but these capabilities are rarely used except in cases where the battlegroup has suffered significant casualties or the threat of hostile interdiction is low. With their superior deep sensing and target correlation abilities, GDFs can also serve as augmentation for the HCBG's extended range surveillance platforms. Although rarely deployed independently of a HCBG, large ad hoc networks of detached GDFs can be used as planetary defense assets in the unlikely event of invasion by hostile forces or massive missile attack.

Atmospheric Attack Carrier (AAC)

Siege Perilous Class

Platform Overview:
The Siege Perilous class Atmospheric Attack Carrier serves as the Group Operational Commander for a PRG during battlegroup operations. The AAC primary combat role is to destroy hostile tactical aircraft and defensive stations on the ground. It ensures that the skies are clear for dropships and other endo/exo-atmospheric craft during beach-head establishment, provides close air support (CAS) for Lancers on the ground, and destroys hostile ground forces in the interdiction zone. In addition, the AAC provides air traffic control for the PRG and directs all Ineffable Military movement onto the objective. Although it is nearly as large as an XMC, the space on board an AAC is devoted almost entirely to hangar space and crew quarters. As a result, the AAC has limited value as a non-combat support ship aside from directing ship-to-surface relief operations from other platforms.

Platform Overview:
The To Seek, To Find class High Endurance Research Cruiser is the heart of the Ineffable Empire's intergalactic exploration efforts. Capable of long-term, independent operations far from established Slipstream portals in uncharted regions of space, the HRCs are equipped for the study of any new scientific phenomenon or research opportunity. Although well armed in the interest of their own self-defense, these vessels are crewed primarily by civilian scientists and engineers. Traditionally, the CO of an HRC is also the Chief Scientist and is supported by an Argosy XO who oversees the crew and combat operations. An HRC can be recalled for combat duty, but only in the direst emergencies.

Small Spacecraft

Low Observable Scout (LOS) *
Major Tom Class

The Major Tom class Low Observable Scout is a small, lightly manned surveillance and electronic attack platform designed to mount C2W and INT operations inside a hostile sphere of control. Scouts often fly along with fighter craft on strike missions in order to provide additional "eyes and ears" for the squadron, as well as a high-powered jamming capability. These assets are equipped with a specially enhanced ES/A-9R package, a hyper-spectral scanner, a single PDL turret and a crew of three. In addition, the LOS is largely self-sufficient, capable of independent operations for weeks at a time without resupply or maintenance.

Supply and Maintenance Ship (SAM) *
Fingers of Dawn Class

The Fingers of Dawn class Supply and Maintenance Ship is the primary logistics and mobility support ship for the HCBG and the PRG. These assets never operate outside of a battlegroup, and rarely transit between theaters without an armed escort. Possessed of little in the way of self-defense systems beyond a few PDL turrets, the SAM is nonetheless one of the most important strategic components of the Argosy.

Interplanetary Mine Hunter (IMH) *
Seven Pillars Class

The Seven Pillars class Mine Hunter is designed to seek out and destroy pre-positioned threats to both HCBG and PRG assets. Deployed as needed based on the operational scenario, IMHs run in packs of four. The packs work as if they are a single asset, performing detailed searches of any perceived threat area with highly sensitive hyper-spectral imaging and synthetic aperture sensors. They are equipped with modified versions of the DM-5 defensive kinetic kill missile which can safely detonate mines from a distance.

Low Observable Special Warfare Ship (LSW) *
Asceticism of Action Class
The Asceticism of Action class Special Warfare Ship is a small, fast troop insertion and reconnaissance vessel designed to infiltrate behind the forward edge of the battle area (FEBA) or deep inside hostile territory. Information on the sensor and weapons load-outs for these assets are currently unavailable for public release.

Light Patrol Craft (LPC)
Non-Slipstream capable planetary defense craft that supplement and augment Home Guard defensive capabilities. LPCs are usually equipped with a single missile tube, several DM-5 defensive kinetic kill missiles and a crew of 10 or fewer. Several sub-classes of LPC are in use throughout the Ineffable Empire, depending on the particulars of the operational environment. LPCs are very fast, highly maneuverable and operate most often in squadrons of eight.

Heavy Patrol Craft (HPC)
Similar to the light craft, but equipped with 2 missile tubes, an AP cannon and an rapid-fire Rail-Gun turret. HPCs carry a crew complement between 20 and 30 people and usually serve as the command ship for a squadron of LPCs. Like the LPC, several sub-classes of the HPC are in use throughout the Ineffable Empire.

Shrike strike fighters (JL)
The Shrike is a fearsome high-speed attack craft used to support medium to long range anti-starship strike operations. Although not as maneuverable as a tactical fighter, the true advantage of the Shrike is its ability to put steel on target while avoiding retribution from hostile assets. It also provides the Group Operational Commander with the flexibility to hit the enemy from a number of angles at a tempo of his/her own choosing. The Shrike is equipped with 2 rapid-fire railguns, an AP cannon and 4 missile tubes which can fire Star Arrow smart missiles. Like the Centaur, it can be controlled either from the cockpit or remotely, though the Shrike requires both a pilot and a weapons officer in either mode

Systems Courier Ship (SCU) *
Alactritous Missive Class
The Alactritous Missive class Courier Ship is the foundation upon which timely inter-system military communications are built and maintained. The couriers are fast, low observable assets equipped with a single PDL turret and a crew of two. Unarmed civilian variants service the Commonwealth as a whole. These vessels can be temporarily commissioned into service during an emergency by a Group Operational Commander or the commander of an Argosy asset conducting independent operations.

Centaur tactical fighters (CTF)
The Centaur is the premiere space superiority fighter in the Local Cluster. Designed to conduct high speed, fire-and-forget combat maneuvers, it is unmatched in its ability to engage multiple targets at short and medium distances. The primary mission of the Centaur is to provide combat patrol support for Heavy Cruisers. It also flies tactical escort for strike fighters and conducts Suppression of Enemy Defense (SED) operations during interplanetary combat. These fighters are equipped with dual rapid-fire CTFcan be piloted either from the cockpit or remotely from a Flight Operations Center.

Phoenix atmospheric attack craft (PAAC)
The Phoenix is a combined fighter/attack craft designed to operate in Earth-normal atmospheres and high-orbit. Extremely maneuverable, the Phoenix is the primary Close Air Support and long-range interdiction asset for the Lancer Corps during planetary combat operations. It is also used to clear hostile skies of tactical fighters, to clear the way for incoming Lancer drop ships and establish air dominance in advance of the main planetfall assault element. The Phoenix is equipped with dual Point Defence Laser cannons and three missile tubes capable of firing up to 6 SAPM-6III Strike Arrow missiles.

This Brilliant Carapace class ship is a tough, versatile defensive patrol craft employed mainly by Home Guard units. Headwaters of Invention Shipyards in the asteroid belt have built over 5,000 of these rugged little vessels, each with a crew of one.

It is used to provide medium-to-long range target sensing for offensive and defensive operations, and can lead "packs" of smart missiles on search and destroy missions. In attack mode, the main body of the drone drops its sensor packages for later retrieval and accelerates at relativistic speeds toward a target. The resultant collision can produce an explosion that ranges between a few kilotons and a gigaton of destructive power.

ES-14 Janus light sensor/attack drones
Janus is similar to the Oracle drone in its mission specifications, but it is half the size and can carry only two of the modular sensor packages. The advantage of Janus is its relative speed and maneuverability, as well as the Low Observability technology it employs to disguise its position during combat operations. Because of its greater acceleration and speed, the relative mass that Janus can bring to bear in an attack can be far greater than the destructive power of Oracle. Janus is also more portable than its larger counterpart and easier to maintain, though it lacks a command and control capability for hunter-killer packs.

AES-111A Odin atmospheric sensor/C2 drones
The Odin drone re-packages the Oracle system architecture in a physical structure capable of atmospheric flight. It is used during all phases of planetfall warfare, including surveillance, reconnaissance and C2 applications. The Odin can accept smart missile control hand-off from the originating platform or another drone, and is also capable of leading hunter-killer packs on search and destroy missions. Unlike its spaceborne counterpart, Odin is not an effective choice for attack operations because of its low speed. However, the Lancer Corps records several instances where hostile troops surrendered to an Odin * even when no smart missiles or other attack assets were forthcoming. It is a testament to the effectiveness of the system and the Corps that their most reliable eye in the sky can produce victory without bloodshed.

AM9D Ung Tae drop ship
A combination armored personnel carrier, hover-tank and skiff, the Ung Tae is the foundation upon which the Lancer Corps has built its reputation. These drop ships are the primary delivery vehicles for Ineffable troops on the ground, capable of all-weather operations in up to 20 Gs. Each ship carries a platoon of Lancers and their basic combat gear, plus provisions for short-term accommodations as shelter. Though slow, Ung Tae can take a tremendous pounding due to multiple layers of ablative and reactive armor. In addition, each ship is equipped with a single direct fire AP gun turret and a deployable 150mm mass-driver cannon for indirect fire support at 1200 rounds per minute. Operating in concert, an entire division of AM9D¹s can coordinate mass-driver effects for simultaneous arrival on target with pinpoint accuracy.

Ineffable Mechas can be programmed with a borderline sentient AI, but they are designed to be operated by a human pilot.

Tweedle-Dum/Tweedle-Dee class planetary assault mecha

The only Ineffable "Bigass Giant" mechs. Standing fifty metres tall, these are armed with two minigun-like uber-heavy versions of forcelances, one in each forearm. In the centre of these (i.e. the minigun bit spins aorund these) is a anti-starship class boser cannon. Two heavy gauss cannons (20" caliber) are deployable from the shoulders, and in the chest are a large and assorted variety of missiles, ranging from anti-tank rockets and missiles, to cruise missiles, to anti-aircraft missiles, to anti-city missiles with anti-matter or nuclear warheads. These have twenty micro-fusion powerplants, carried around the mechas body. A minimum of five are required to power the mecha at standard-power for a week, however, and the extras serve to increase the strength/firepower, or to extend the lifespan or serve as backups for battle-damaged plants. These mechas also contain their own GFG, allowing them to operate as small, heavily armed gravships for a short period of time, and for ease of deployment from orbit to planetside. The mechas are armoured with armour comparable to that on board a small capital ship, such as a frigate. These mecha are single-handedly capable of conquering a small nation. These are usually deployed by the Ineffable Empire in pairs of two (One Tweedle-Dum, One Tweedle-Dee.) These have no room to spare for a human pilot, instead they are piloted by an advanced AI, identical and occasionaly the same one (when deployed as part of an assault a part of an assaulting starship's AI will be that controlling the mechs) as those on board a starship.

    Standard weapon carried by Ineffable military forces. A light submachine gun with a high r.o.f. and a seventy-round magazine.
  • Force Lance $3,000
    A primary tool and weapon of every High Guardsman (Ineffable spacemarine), the Force-Lance (commonly called the F-Lance) looks like a harmless metallic tube approximately 1/3 meter in length. But when deployed for battle, it can be extended into a quarterstaff almost two meters long, and when used in melee, the F-Lance can be charged with an electrical current, shocking anyone it hits into unconsciousness. But the F-Lance is more than just a melee weapon. It can also fire a plasma beam, in both the extended and retracted position, which can be used in ranged combat, or as a cutting tool or light source. Finally, the F-Lance can launch a number of self-guided effectors (see effector), allowing it to fill a multitude of rolls including that of a mortar.

Mainly used as an anti-tank weapon, this fires very-high velocity projectiles of varying types. High-density kinetic rounds, armour-penetrating (standard anti-tank round), anti-personnel (two varieties, a single-person one that carries a timed charge, so that after entering the body it explodes and douses the enemies comrades with their former compatriot. The other has two fins that deploy after launch, designed for tearing through columns of infantry it can go through fifty unarmoured persons, killing all with a torso or head hit)

    A heavy, shoulder-mounted weapon. Theoretically two can be used simultaneously by the one person, though this is difficult to say the least. Capable of precision shots or even rapid-fire (one missile a second), it is versatile. Can be fitted with a variety of missile-ammunition packs, which are semi-circular and slot into the side for easy reloading during combat. Up to 30 missiles per pack, depending on the missile size).

    A small self-guided device. It is the size and shape of a Human throwing disc. When tossed, the bander unwinds into a series of coils, then wraps around its target, immobilizing it.
  • Bracer $5,000
    A bracer is worn on the arm and can also be expanded into a physical shield for defensive purposes. In shield mode, a bracer's surface is optically reflective to reflect laser beams and is strong enough to deflect bullets and other kinetic projectile attacks. In addition to their combat capacity, bracers incorporate a number of sophisticated electronic devices, including portable computers, communicators and sensors.

    A weapon that shoots a stream of anti-protons at near light speeds (99 PSL). Anti-protons that hit mass (the enemy ship) destroy it. An AP Gun is not effective beyond about 4 light seconds

    A medium velocity slug launcher, firing 8" 10kg rounds of anti-lithium

    Similar to an X-ray laser (see X-ray laser) or point defense laser. A PPG requires less energy, but uses a consumable commodity.
  • ELS Missile tube
    High-powered electro-magnetic missile tubes, which accelerate offensive and defensive loads into space. The ELS is necessary to allow for a safe distance between a missile and the originating starship when the missile activates its organic acceleration capability.

  • Harpoon
    Harpoons are missiles that trail a superstrong molecular cable (commonly known as a bucky cable) back to the launching ship. The bucky cable is then used to attach itself to other ships and pull them in. Harpoons are slower than missiles, and are commonly used to tow disabled ships or to grapple with them for a boarding action
  • OM-5 standard offensive kinetic kill missiles
    The main offensive weapon in ship to ship combat. This device is about the size of an adult Human's fist and weighs about 1 kilogram. They move at 85 to 95 PSL and do atomic blast levels of damage when they hit, due to the kinetic energy of impact. Most have a range of 1 to 1.5 light minutes.
  • DM-5 standard defensive kinetic kill missiles
    The main defensive weapon against incoming offensive missiles in ship to ship combat. Defensive missiles can also be used as enemy fighters, which are smaller missiles (about 1/3 of a kilogram). They move slower than offensive missiles (60 to 70 PSL), but with twice the acceleration. They have a range of only 5 to 10 light seconds.
  • PM-6 Star Arrow smart anti-ship missiles (2/5 high explosive;10kt, 1/5 fusion warhead; 400 mt, 1/5 fusion warhead, 2 Gt 1/5 anti matter, 5 grammes anti-lithium, yield unknown since I can't find anywhere that tells you how much energy is released in a normal explosion)
  • PM-6L Strategic Star Arrow smart anti-ship missiles (extended range variant)
    Extended-range, high-endurance missiles that rely on a combination of ship, drone and organic active/passive sensor systems to find targets and destroy them. At kill speed, smart missiles can achieve upwards of 90 PSL. Smart missiles are most effective at less than one AU, but special variants can extend that range to 3 AU when combat operations permit missile control "handoff" from platform to platform. Smart missiles can be called back or neutralized in flight.
  • PM-6LII Strategic Star Arrow multiple independent kill vehicle (MIKV) variant
    A special warhead that contains several independently targetable kill vehicles.

    Extended-range, high-endurnace missiles that rely on a new sensor system to track their targets even while in slipstream. These missiles carry a small slipstream core on board and have deployable sliprunners, enabling them to travel in slipstream. Although AI cannot effectively negotiate the slipstream, these missile get around that by following their target through the slipstream at close range. That way, the negotiating is being done by the organic pilot on board the target vessel. These smart missiles can intercept and destroy their targets while in slipstream or after exiting the slipstream. These missiles carry an extremely heavy warhead, enabling them to take out a medium to large ship with one or two good hits.
