The Zircon Armada (Neo-Mekantan Space Forces)

Zircon Warrior

The Zircon are Minagoroshi's military forces. They need no communication, as they are all mentally slaved to Minagoroshi's own mind. They possess some independant intelligence, but this is always limited to simply how to meet thier objectives. The Zircon are an enigma to those who do not know their origin as part of Minagoroshi. To an observer, it is difficult to tell if the Zircon are flesh, mineral, or machine. The Zircon ships share this mystery, pulsing and writhing in space as they carry out Minagoroshi's instructions. While thier armor is tough, anyone inside a Zircon ship will find it to be soft on the inside, like flesh, unless the ship of Minagoroshi herself finds reason to harden the interior.

As they are part of Minagoroshi, it is not uncommon to see ships merge or split into larger or smaller forms, leading engagements with the Zircon to be quite unpredictable and dangerous.

As with Minagoroshi's nanite swarms, Zircon ships and warriors are capable of "consuming" objects with the nanites that make up thier form. It is a likely occurance that a ship will launch its spines at an unshielded enemy in order to accomplish just this task.

Zircon Scoutship

The probes of Neo-Mekanta, these act as Minagoroshi's eyes and ears on the galaxies. They're capable of advanced Translocational Jumps, and are often used as "Canaries" by the Zircon Armada. They scan systems in layers, looking first for anything that might be intelligent or from an intelligent race before analyzing the planets. The full scanner sweep of a system takes roughly fifteen minutes, less if more Scoutships are in the system.

Scoutships are roughly 150 meters in length, and 50 meters in diameter. Only the Fightercraft are more lightly armed than the Scoutships. The Scoutships are, however, the only ships that consistantly use a Triad Point Recall device capable of summoning an entire fleet of Zircon ships.

Scoutships and Fightercraft are the only Zircon ships known to regularly be used in Kamikaze attacks.

Zircon Fightercraft

While far from impressive in appearance or firepower, the Zircon Fightercraft are a force to be reckoned with. Equipped with only a single Zircon Pulse Cannon or similar armament, in addition to its spines which have been modified from the basic design to act more like the missiles of other races, the Fightercraft's strength lies in its small size and sheer numbers.

At only seven and a half meters long and three and a half in diameter, the Zircon Fightercraft a small fighter. However, they're quite easy to notice as they tend to strike in swarms of no less than fifty. However, this is the lowest number that will attack, as the average Fighter Swarm tends to number around a hundred fifty to two hundred individual units, but swarms as large as seven hundred have been reported. These Fighter Swarms coordinate thier attacks as a single organism, with multiple swarms acting in a way similar to fighter squadrons. Unlike most fighters, Zircon Fightercraft can operate perfectly without a carrier of some sort. However, multiple Fighter Swarms in a system sometimes indicate the presence or imminent of a Battleship, Deathship, or even a Guardian.

Scoutships and Fightercraft are the only Zircon ships known to regularly be used in Kamikaze attacks.

Zircon Bomber

One ship in two roles, the Zircon Bomber also is capable of serving a gunship role to engage mutliple fighters in multiple directions. Equipped with a heavy Zircon Beam Cannon or similar weapon capable of damaging a capship, and several Zircon Pulse Cannons to handle smaller craft. Quite fast and maneuverable compared to other ships of the same class, the Zircon Bomber will do whatever is necessary to ensure the destruction of its target, and is surpassed in its suicidal tendancies by only the Fightercraft and Scoutship models.

The Zircon Bomber is twelve meters long, sixteen meters wide, and five meters deep. It operates per unit, rather than the Fighter Swarms, and coordinates attacks similar to Fighter Squadrons. Like the Fightercraft, the Bomber's spines will also behave more like missiles or bombs and it does not rely on Capships for operation. There are no blind spots where it is unable to fire its Zircon Pulse Cannon, and it is capable of outrunning many fighters of other races.

Engaging a Zircon Bomber should be done only by fighters with at least five other fighters, superior firepower, or a death wish.

Zircon Battleship

A deadly vessel all around, the Zircon Battleship is fast, well defended, and armed to the teeth. Equipped with a forward firing Main Gun capable of hitting with a yield of 3.5 Teratons, and packing equally serious heat in with other weapons, this vessel follows the standard Zircon philosophy of fast and deadly.

The Zircon Battleship is 3.5 kilometers long, and a kilometer and a half in diameter. Zircon Battleships mainly target other Capships, but are well known to increase thier point defense and wide spread weapons and mercilessly attack fighters. Like all Zircon craft, the Battleships are unpredictable and dangerous.

Interesting... if not creative design idea.

I think you put up too many pics. Towards the end I began thinking of porcupines.

Well.... You had better not run into one of those things, those spines look nasty. Oh, are there misiles in the Zircon Warriors claws?

Siesatia - Kind of. They're spines made to be shot out to Consume things from a distance.

One point that wasn't made in that post since it'll be posted on the NS boards... Zircon ships are under-armored compared to a lot of other ships. Granted, this is offset by their freakishly fast regeneration times, but the reletively soft hull would likely be an advantage against them in disrupting thier attacks.

Planned numbers for the Neo-Mekantan storming of Normandeicht... Not counting reinforcements.

3,000 Scoutships
25,000 Fighter Swarms, 550 Fightercraft each
20,000 Bombers
5,900 Battleships
3,200 Deathships
5 Guardians

Just to give a feel for Zircon fleets. This is a rather top-heavy fleet, since it's rare to see a single Guardian or more than 250 Deathships.

The Guardian does a lot. Same with the Fightercraft.

The Deathship reminds me more of Lavos from Chrono Trigger, might have been subconscious.

And the Battleship... Well, that's just mutated or somethin'...
