I would buy a cheap mic just for this. I swear it on Kost's grave.
It's amazing how a family can be torn apart by something as simple as a pack of hungry wolves.

Re: ESUS Podcast?
I'm thinking of rewriting some of my old stories then recording them as a podiobook (basically a serialised audiobook, in podcast form). It'd have a (possibly original, depending how much time I have) soundtrack, cinematic sound effects etc. I think this is probably the best format for any kind of ESUS podcast to take - podiobooks are an established format, and they get wide appreciation if released on the various podcasting websites and they're of a reasonable quality. It'd be a chance to get your stories heard outside of NS, should you choose to invest in the medium.
In particular, http://www.escapepod.org/ does sci-fi short stories in podcast format. They're of variable quality but they're usually very good.
One thing I think may hold me back is my accent - I've been told I have a fairly difficult to understand Scottish accent. I'll need to do a few tests first.

I also volunteer myself to read for characters should anyone wish.
