I have it now, and I know there are some Hearts of Iron players on these boards. So, I'd thought I look you guys up and see what would happen. Note, I have never played HoI before.

I have never played HoI before.

For beginners, I recommend the scenarios first as they have a more limited scope, and in the main campaigns, I'd recommend playing with the United States first, you'll have a heckload of IC(Industrial Capacity) to build an army, excellent tech teams, start with one of the biggest navies and your mainland will be far away from most of the war. Soviet Union second, due to the massive manpower and likely enough industry to have at least 3 divisions in each border province with Germany if you do it right. IMO, depends whether you wish to learn first naval or ground warfare gameplay.

Once you get more used to the game(and to the ways to exploit its AI), then you could try Poland.

PS: Although things may have changed a lot compared to HoI 2
