Blowing up your own planet to get enemy warships with the resulting shrapnel is a Bad Idea [tm].

Of all the... he... why is he insisting on carrying the conflict further after resorting to the "blow up my own planet" desperation tactic? I mean, the propaganda war that he just unleashed on himself is going to suck.

"Oh, hi! I'm here to liberate you! Never mind that I'm probably going to blow up your planet and everyone on it to get rid the defense fleet first."
This won't end well.

What's the problem with this idea?

Inferior animals and xenos... they are afraid of death and would rather shed their freedom for survival than their survival for freedom. A planet without liberty is nothing, a life without liberty is worse than death.

Solarians would rather destroy entire universes, including their own, than surrender.

No use of freedom if you're dead. Solarians are stupid.

No use of life if you're forever subjugated, because in the sort of quasi-realistic FT Solarians belong to "resistance" is inevitably futile. You lost control of space, you lost everything.

Except he hasn't lost control of space. By the time he triggered the explosion, all of Parvitta's allies had run away and 70% of his fleet had been destroyed.
