Tho from a racial survival perspective, seeding some far-flung colonies would be a great way to insure against disaster.

Well; it looks as though the emergence and re-emergence of powers sets us up nicely for a return. In fact, should the ESUS return, along with powers like Sith and Indra; then this could very well harken the dawn of a new Golden Age; where the dross and horror of all that has pretentiously come forth shall be washed away.
