This reminds me of something:
A couple of days ago, while heading for a nearby suburb, I saw something flying overhead. It didn't appear to have any wings, and was a moderately thick black rectangle with landing lights at each corner, the two in reverse of the direction of travel being red and the forward ones being a bright white. It was going at moderate speed over a well-populated area with much traffic.
