Well I guess I was thinking of dignity more in the sense of self-respect. Satire is a parasitical art; it requires something to mock or it doesn't exist, but it still occupies a far higher seat than trolling and fakeposting. The latter smacks of the desperation of minds too small and stunted to actually make an intelligent point or craft a witty diatribe, so it transmogrifies into a straw man and bides its time, like one of those horrendous lure fish. No small coincidence that both species like hiding in dark places, and when their form is seen in full light nothing but disgust is elicited. It's not to say satirists don't indulge in trolling - Jonathan Swift essentially invented trolling with "A Modest Proposal" - but doing so for its own sake seems the province of mental recluses.
