If Internet and NationStates existed in the 80s, you could do a FT NS with Thundercats and not have anyone posting

They defile more than just childhood memories.
Dammit, it's become next to impossible to play any race other than human in any RPG without having someone scream "Mary Sue" or "furfag" before they even see how the character acts or how the backstory is written.

This. Unless you play as a RL human, you're a Marysueing faggot.
Granted, I freely admit that most of my characters are Mary Sues, but it's not that much of an issue for me. I have other priorities.

Most of my characters are flawed and weird. And I sell Mary Sues in a Storefront.
