William sighed, they hadn't even gotten a few minutes into the peace conference that hadn't even started yet and threats were already being uttered. Moving in to protect Torontonian interest, William intervened before it got to hot.

Turning to the Facehuggerian ambassador, he spoke "Sir, I can assure you that this conference is quite safe, the door scanned ...or did scan for the presence of any weapons that the Diplomats could have possibly brought in, and I'm sure no small arms could possibly penetrate that suit of yours. So I would ask if you could send your bodyguards away and deactivate any weapons you have active on your suit, if there shall be attacks in this room, they will be verbal attacks, no more."

He then turned to the Balroggan ambassador "I'm aware most of that statement was in defence against the Facehuggerian accusation, but I would implore that you at least try to maintain the peace process, some of us here aren't as eager to get back to war as others..."

.:ooc:. Sorry I'm late. But I WAS there ahead of time... really! :P

The doors wrenching from their hinges provided enough noise to wake Valerio up. He snorted and gasped and twisted about as the massive armored figure pushed itself into the room. Somehow he immediately knew that he was their emperor. He recalled some prized paintings he had once seen on display in the palace, depicting lords of dark legions in bygone days. However horrendous they were, the dread aura of this titanic person outstripped them all. Of course a bunch of other delegates had already gotten to their feat and begun their protestations. Valerio merely responded by taking out a small cask and taking a nip from it. It was going to be a long day.

"Well, if he is afraid to show his face, we will have to address this tin can he is hiding inside of. The weapon system must be completely disarmed or we will walk. There cannot be guns of any sort during a peace treaty. The results can be claimed invalid due to duress. If I held a gun to your head and made you sign, it would not be legal. I see no difference in this situation."

K'Ahlon turned towards the security camera and addressed it.

"We can all see the type of diplomacy their emperor uses."

He turns back to the diplomats again.

"We will be no part of this charade. We will not reason with a faceless murder lord who is afraid to show his face."

K'Ahlon bends down to collect his briefcase and picks up his empty mug. He stands as if he is about to leave.

"The choice is yours. Either we continue or I will leave now. We are through playing."

"Fool. Always so concerned with the appearance of being weak. My weapons are already inactive. As for my body guards, I shall send them away, with the caveat that I may recall them to counter any additional Balroggan treachery. I do not trust you as far as I could throw you, and events have proven me right at every turn. Of course, I have already noted your psionic scans and your weak-willed attempts to use my own mind against me. It has failed. What I’ve seen; what I’ve done cannot be equaled by something as... inexperienced as yourself." The Emperor replied coldly as he took his place towards the centralist side. He clearly didn’t care for whatever baseless grandstanding the Balroggan was peddling.

"But I would like the assembled delegates to note the Balroggan treachery in this matter. They sealed the door to prevent their lawful opposition from entrance, despite the fact that I was detained by the lengthy fitting of this suit, which I require to function here. They are trying to prevent their lawful opposition from maintaining its own safety as it sees fit, and then they go so far as to scan the delegates' minds, crudely trying to damage my own. To compare, I have done nothing thus far save break down a locked door that could not be overridden. I ask you, who is being more hostile here?" He asked quietly.

"But, regardless, I came here to debate with rational beings, not Psion space-pirates with delusions of grandeur. Thusly, I greet delegate Bolakin from Xanthal with respect, for they were the most rational of all of us. But I also greet my fellow centralists, Metallinauts, our hired help, the Sskiss, and our erstwhile allies, Arizona Nova, and Torontonias. Let us get down to our business and repair the shattered ESUS. Preferably without letting filth…” An almost imperceptible sneer towards the Balroggan “manipulate this meeting towards their own ends. We are here to reforge the ESUS, not to assign guilt for this war. That is not to say reparations must not be paid, it is merely that we must deal with them after we have dealt with the larger issue.”
"Please tell me that you haven't heard military gossip about a fleet of invisible battleplates."

Yelniv sighs, returning to his seat after another short bow to the Emperor at his mention. The whole conference is probably going to be like this, he ruefully admits to himself. He settles down for what he expects will be very much a passive role in the proceedings. Xanthal has come to the table with little lost and nothing gained from the six week (by Xanthalian time) war, and no real expectation of gaining or losing anything through the negotiations. Bolakin has been sent for the dual purpose of observing the other participants to further the Xanthalian government's understanding of the situation and promoting a prompt, peaceful conclusion so that full peacetime relations and trade can be re-established between the Socialist Republic and the Extra Solar Union. While observation is easy enough, Yelniv is quickly beginning to realize that forging a new true peace within the ESUS is going to be considerably more difficult.

"Out of respect for the other delegates present I have yet to engage any active scans. I am only passively listening to what is being broadcast. It is much like using your ears to listen to what is being said in the background noise of a room. Anyone with any psionic ability would know what I am talking about. I have not scanned you or made any attack against you."

K'Ahlon stood there holding his briefcase and looked around the room. He carefully examined each face before speaking again.

"We will remain if a sensor lock can be established to monitor his suit's weapon status. It can be by any nation present but we would like to suggest Yelniv be the one to set up and maintain the status scan. While you decide, I will refill my mug."

K'Ahlon set his briefcase on his chair and walked over to the refreshment table. He turned his back to the room as he refilled his mug.

The Xanthalian delegate shifts his eyes to Senator Waltzburg. "I am not aware of the security setup of this room. Are there scanners already in place to monitor the room itself, or was the door," he indicates the wrecked portal, its cover now lying bent just to the side of the frame inside the room, "the only weapon screening device?"

Valerio winced when the Facehuggerian Emperor made reference to his homeland - specifically, the bit about them being "erstwhile." Other than the fact that the Empress was very interested in maintaining good relations with the Facehuggerians, there was also the fact that, as sole representative of said state, the full blow of that "erstwhile" rested on him, and coming from such a dread figure as the Emperor of Central Facehuggeria, it was not unlike being hit by a spaceline freighter. He also frowned at the Balroggan emissary - passive or active, it seemed terribly unfair to him that he had that advantage.
They should install some sort of dampener in here so the psionic types couldn't cheat like that, he thought.

K'Ahlon tasted his drink to see if it was mixed correctly. He kept his back toward the table.

"Well, are we going to allow his shotgun diplomacy?"

K'Ahlon turned around to face the room.

"The choice is yours. Choose wisely."

William sighed as he watched the delegates go at it, the conference was quickly devolving into a verbal slugfest, which is what he had anticipated, but not so quickly. Redirecting the attention of the room away from the conflict and back on to him, he attempted to patch together a compromise that would make everyone happy.

"People, Representatives and Delegates, this is a peace conference, although we all may have our grudges over what has happened over the few months, we must have the strength and compassion to lay aside our differences to help mend the ESUS, as the Facehuggerian diplomat has so aptly put it, so I would like to propose a compromise."

Turning to the Balroggan ambassador, he put down his feelings of annoyances at his demanding nature, and attempted to be civil. "This is not a session of Appeasement to the Balroggan people, the Facehuggerian ambassador has dismissed his body guards and for reasons beyond my control still needs to remain in his armour, and you still aren't satisfied. However, this meeting it not about getting what everyone wants, it is about Compromise, and I am willing to do just that. While this room does not directly have any scanning mechanisms, I can initiate a Torontonian Scanner, (or Xanthalian if they have the capacity) lock on the ambassadors weapons it would be an extremely low power scan only capable of detecting weapon start-ups, since I see no reason to violate his privacy with a more intensive scan."

"In return, I would request that you suppress you latent Psionic abilities as to not gain an edge in these talks. If you cannot do so, then I would ask that you give us time to come up with a suitable replacement, such as issuing Torontonian Psionic Nullifiers or a suitable alternative."

Turning to the rest of the delegates he continued with his plans he had for the conference

"If anyone else has a better alternative I'd be glad to hear it out, but if not, I would like to continue with this Meeting. I would suggest we start with Grievances of the War, unless someone else has something to add, or comment on where we should start?"
