A Resignation

Post by Northrop-Grumman »

A Letter from the Northrop-Grumman Corporation to the Nations of the Restored Extra Solar Union of Systems

After careful consideration, the Northrop-Grumman Corporation wishes to formally withdraw from the Restored Extra Solar Union of Systems. While we feel that our time within this alliance has been beneficial for all in the last half century, we have decided that now is the appropriate time for us to depart and move in our own direction. We are aware that others may inquire as to our reasons. Though, we do not wish to discuss those in depth at this time but are willing to say that ideological differences and lack of support in certain military exercises are partially to blame.

While we are severing ties with the alliance as a whole, we still do wish to maintain diplomatic relations with individual nations and are open to the possibility of one-on-one alliances.

Also, in the light of increasing economic instability in Northrop-Grumman and the growing sentiment for keeping our production facilities under Corporate control, we are also withdrawing from the United Federal Shipbuilders. All facilities that are in our space will return to our possession, non-Grummanian employees will we returned to their nations of citizenship, and all orders will be cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience but these things must be done.

If there are further inquiries, they are to be directed to the Vice Chairman.

Farewell and God bless.

Ahh, those people? I laugh at them. So pathetic. :)

.:ooc:. hoo-ray for roleplaying in the roleplaying forum eh?

"This is a God-damn disaster," cursed Arjuna Nolan, Secretary of Foreign Affairs. He and a scion of the Ilë Sornë cabinet to the Chancellors had convened at the new capital at Kelwynd as soon as the news of the secession had hit home.

"So as I understand it," demurely intoned Aeli Hatherian, Secretary of State, "one of our corporations is going to be hurt a bit?"

"Hurt a bit?" growled Arjuna, "it's getting a quarter blown right the hell out of it."

"Will the Archchancellor be able to make it here?" asked Fergus Vasili, and as if summoned by the asking, in came the Archchancellor himself.

Those assembled in the room got to their feet and gave a salute to the Chief.

"I've heard quite a bit," Archchancellor Valahur Relahur addressed to the cabinet members, "and none of it good, about all this. So Northrop-Grumman has withdrawn from our august body of the ESUS, as well as UFS?"

"Yes, and it's going to be really ugly in the latter case," grimly intoned Lino Paxton, the Economic Advisor. "The remaining parts of UFS, mainly the former Arizona Novanian quarter, have been none too happy. Some are threatening to bring a suit, but it would seem they don't have a case; the initial agreements between the founding corporations were apparently vague and open to interpretation. Nobody is happy to see this happen, though."

"It's cowardice, plain and simple," snarled Arjuna. "Where are the majority of their assets? Sol. Do you think those wipes would want the presence of someone so tied to the 'extra-solar scum' amongst them? This is just the first Secession of Allanea playing itself out again."

"So nobody really knows why they're gone?" asked the Archchancellor, a little pointedly.

"'Ideological differences' and 'lack of military support,' are supposedly it. Nothing concrete," said Arjuna a little less passionately.

"Then what of our response?" persisted the Archchancellor.

"They're open to still maintaining relations," said Aeli.

"Hold on a second!" yelled Arjuna. "What I'm mad about is the suddenness of this. Just out of the blue, 'we quit everything, goodbye and thanks for nothing!' What the hell is that?"

"Surely," coldly replied Aeli, "You are not that blunt? We've known for a while that they identified far more with the Greater Prussians than with the ESUS."

"Thats not an excuse for rolling up the carpet while everyone is walking on it," replied Arjuna.

"The response?" asked the Archchancellor impatiently.

"Fine, I'll get some nice, plaintitive little note drafted up then and dispatched," said Arjuna, standing up and stretching. "You know how I feel about this though."

"Duly noted," said the Archchancellor, as if tired by the bickering.

A letter from the High Throne of the Grand Imperium to the Nations of the Extra Solar Union of Systems.

With considerable thought and deliberation, the Grand Emperor has decided that membership in the Restored Extra Solar Union of Systems is no longer suitable for the Grand Imperium. Reasons for the withdrawal of our support include significant economic factors, a continuing lack of respect for the losses suffered during the Shivan War and a desire to honour the unity of our Empire with that of the Northrop-Grumman Corporation.

We henceforth sever all ties with ESUS members but welcome further negotiations. All inquiries are to be directed to the Emperor-Mother, The Green Lady Tylandin.

All hail the God Emperor.

OOC: Damn, it's a pity. UA and N-G, you guys are great RPers, and I hope, wherever you write next, it works out for you.

They drop like flies. We are surprised. Perhaps, then, the bad grain must be winnowed away from the good. It is acceptable.

A brief missive was sent to the two nations, succint, and through a brief process of simply erasing the sender, was sent only from "Manifest".
You leave. A pity. Nevertheless, you do as you choose. We will not stop you. I/I find it bothersome that this has happened, but we will continue on. How could we do otherwise?

MANIFEST
The missive ended, and Manifest deliberated among the other-minds it had created. It truly was a pity. In times long past, the two had been among the greatest in the alliance, and now they had left. But there was no time to think of such things. There was a war to conduct.
It's amazing how a family can be torn apart by something as simple as a pack of hungry wolves.
