Attn: ESUS Short Story Competition

I've had an idea to spur some activity and get those creative juices flowing: an official ESUS short story competition. With prizes!

Here are my proposed rules:
  1. You must be an ESUS member to enter.
  2. Your story does not necessarily have to be science fiction, nor does it have to be set inside the NS universe.
  3. The maximum length is to be 1,500 words.
  4. The deadline for entry will be 10th March.
  5. Only one entry per person.
  6. The work must be entirely original. No using Star Trek ships or any other fandom. None at all, or I'll reject it.
  7. The judges decision is final.
  8. The story may be edited by me before the prize is awarded (see below for why)
  9. We will open voting for the story on the 10th March.
  10. The stories must not display gratuitous sex.
  11. The prize may be delayed by approximately one month after the closing date for voting.
  12. The winners will be announced on the 21st March.
And now, for the prizes:

First place: I will fully illustrate a graphic novel based upon your story. I will retain all illustrative credits, but you will be credited as the writer. With your permission, it may be submitted for assessment.
Second place: I will create single piece illustrations of all your main characters, in the pose of your choice (subject to my artistic license.)
Third place: I will create a single piece illustration of one of your main characters.

Personally I'm interested to see what you lot come up with knowing it'll be in graphic novel form.

/Looks at the vast variety of Megeanekko's, KAWAIIII's, moe's, -4 STR and supernaturally attractive types that would be nicer to see in graphic form.

Ah well, one can dream.

I'm not sure how to write for a graphic novel format, as I've grown accustomed to NS writing over the years.

More emphasis on action (especially bloody cinematic action), with shorter dialog is how it's done in comics, usually.

I might do this just for fun. We'll see if the muse strikes me. :P

I will be doing my best as well. ^^
Pyramid Facehugger would be fucking brutal. I don't know if I'll ever get to sleep with the thought of that genocidal rape behemoth rampaging through the large-eyed schoolgirls swimming in a sea of biceps that populate my subconscious.
