The following message has been dispatched to the ESUS Senate through official channels:

Against the recommendation of the Alphin, the Council of the Socialist Republic of Xanthal has voted to retract its signatory status to the Extra Solar Union of Systems Constitution and end its membership in the same alliance. It has been thus officially concluded by state legislative authority that the trade laws and freedom of information requirements attached to the old Constitution, the collective policing power granted the ESUS by the proposed new constitution and the percieved inadequacies and in many cases violently fractious nature of the alliance's members and Senate outweigh the military benefits to the Socialist Republic continued membership could provide. All Xanthalian staff serving in an ESUS-related capacity and Xanthalian property located in ESUS facilities are hereby recalled by the Xanthalian Alphin.

[The Mindset]

While I regret to learn of your somewhat misguided withdrawal from the halls of the ESUS, I pray that you enlighten us as to your exact misgivings with the new constitution. Surely, had you truly wished to maintain your visions of equilibrium and stability within the constitution, you could’ve postponed your withdrawal post-proposal of a counter-amendment to remedy those portions of the refined document you so vehemently disagree with?

I fear that the wishes of the Council have little to do with the balance and stability of the ESUS. They are concerned, as their jobs require them to be, primarily with the domestic impact of continued membership. It was concluded amongst them that ESUS law hindered the execution of the laws of the Republic. As Lanalphini, I and my fellow executives can only execute the will of the Council when it is required of us to do so. That said, I concur that the ESUS does not fulfill the needs of the Xanthalian people and state. As has been previously released, we dispute that the new alliance constitution has, indeed, passed. Under the circumstances, continued attendance in the ESUS by the Socialist Republic could only lead to conflict. I respect that the Council wished to avoid that. In their decision they were guided by the law and their offices in service of the Xanthalian people. Your and my personal opinions about the wisdom of their decision are wholly irrelevant.
