Pretty cool stuff. I read about this in PopSci. Ive been waiting for months to see who the first person would be to deciide to put it in NS. heh. Nice idea.

Yeah I saw that article too. It really is quite interesting. It would very amazing if someone could build one in RL.

I've seen atleast a dozen over the last year or so. They're nothing new, even on NS.

Myself, they're not worth the endevor; most of us should have propulsion tech sufficent to meet this end far more economicly, and far more redundently.

It's more of a late-modern or near-future tech soloution, IMO.

First NS one was I believe Kitsylvania's...
Boy I'm old...

And they should be feasible for RL within the next decade or two. All that needs to be done is the commital of resources and then development of cables strong and light enough, which will basically involve more research into carbon nanotubes.

Yes it is out of date technology from our point of view, but I plan to
sell its use to Modern Tech Countries and use it in Modern Tech RP's.

well, space elevator ideas have been around sence the 60's but, noones been able to design one that wouldnt go poof before it was done. i personally dont need a space elevator, cause i live in space already.
