Ack! Slowmo was raw in this case. At least it wasn't fucking bullet time or some other overused stunt.

Guide our souls to the Elysium Fields
Bear us home upon our shields
Lay coins across our brows and sound the bells
We're paying our fare on the river to Hell
And when our sons and mothers lay us upon the funeral pyre
Tell them we died Hellenic soldiers with our faces to the fire
Guide our souls to the Elysium Fields
Bear us home upon our shields
Lay coins across our brows and sound the bells
We're paying our fare on the river to Hell

I agree. The slow motion in 300 was different from the conventional in that it sped up in certain parts, mostly when a Spartan would deal a fatal blow to an adversary. It gave it a sort of animated feel, which definitely related well with the movie's graphic novel base. Neither was the slow motion the least bit cheesy.
Rarely do movies nowadays pull off such a level of serious kick-arse without at least a little bit of cheesy-ness. It's rather refreshing.
That, and the dozens of rolling heads throughout the movie. That's always nice, too.
EDIT:
Whoops, almost forgot...
"This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy it. I am not your queen."
*sword withdrawn and Persian currency spills all over the floor*
